Rachel Clark, P.T., DPT, MPH

Rachel is the co-owner of Sana. As a physical therapist with over eighteen years of experience, she specializes in orthopedics, pelvic health, exercise prescription, functional rehabilitation, sports therapy, and Pilates-based rehabilitation. Prior to opening Sana, Rachel co-owned and operated The Cypress Center, a physical therapy and wellness center, in Pacific Palisades, CA for the past eight years.

Rachel holds a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Daemen College, Amherst, NY, a Master of Public Health Degree in Health Policy and Management from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and a Bachelor of Science, Health Science from Daemen College. She is certified in Community Based Rehabilitation from Queen's University, Ontario, Canada, Global Health from UCLA, Pilates from BASI Pilates, and Yoga Teacher Training-200hours. Rachel trained through The Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute for pelvic floor, bladder, and bowel dysfunction and holds extensive training in Maitland and Mckenzie approaches for orthopedic rehabilitation.

Rachel's experience includes not only eighteen years as a practicing physical therapist specializing in orthopedics and pelvic health, but she has also served as a full-time Lecturer in the Physiotherapy Department in the School of Health Sciences (Allied Health) of Nanyang Polytechnic, Singapore. Her instruction included Exercise Prescription, Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy, Kinesiology, and Community Based Rehabilitation. Alongside teaching, Rachel led the Physical Therapy Teaching Clinic focusing on rehabilitation of student athletes and pioneered Interprofessional Education Collaborations. As an invited Lecturer, Rachel presented on Physical Inactivity's link with Major Non-Communicable Diseases in collaboration with the Government of Singapore's Health Promotion Board.

Rachel has utilized the Pilates Method in her practice since 2008. Whether working with professional athletes, weekend-warriors, or 90 year olds; her preferred form of teaching and treatment is Pilates-based therapy where you can access postural/core/upper and lower extremity stabilization, eccentric training, and gravity independent loads to help you recover from injury or stay fit in a safe, effective, and fulfilling way. 

​

While growing up, Rachel was a student athlete, playing volleyball, softball, and basketball and continued to college where she played NAIA volleyball. Rachel was then diagnosed with hip dysplasia and underwent bilateral periacetabular osteotomies. She specializes in treating patients with hip and pelvis injuries and is able to empathize with patients post surgery.

Rachel resides in West Falls, NY. She has worked on global health projects focusing on improving access to rehabilitation services in the Dominican Republic and Cambodia. She is a proud member of the APTA and active in the Health Policy and Administration Chapter and the Global Health Special Interest Group. She promotes health and wellness while supporting the UCLA alumni association and Health Services Association. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two young boys, traveling, skiing, reading, pilates and yoga.
